Worthy Grand Matron, Bernice Guiler, and Worthy Patron, Rodney Muir, of the Grand Chapter of Ontario were in Elliot Lake Thursday evening to welcome three new inductees to the Elliot Lake chapter of the Eastern Star.

Describing the geographic scope of the organization, Guiler said the Easter Star has “60 chapters within the jurisdiction of Ontario – one jurisdiction out of a worldwide organization that goes into the states, Philippines, Mexico, Europe, and South America.”

The organization does benevolent work each year. “For example, Rodney and I picked as our charity, the Kidney Foundation of Ontario, with special attention to organ donation,” Guiler said.

Muir added, “It’s very much a community-based, benevolent organization, the best way I can describe it. The main goal is to support your own community.”

Last fall, the Elliot Lake chapter of the Easter Star donated $1,034 to Fresh Start – Larry’s Place.
