The annual Dance Showcase, which always attracts a sold-out crowd, is set again for March 23 at the Collins Hall starting at 6 p.m.

The event, which is a major fundraiser for Elliot Lake’s DanceWorks Studio, is organized by North Shore Parents’ Association of Dance, said Allison Byles, association president.

“We are hosting the 25th annual dance,” she said. “The Dance Showcase is an annual performance fundraising event hosted by the Association of Dance. As a not-for-profit, our goal is to promote competitive dance affordable for all families and provide fundraising opportunities to raise funds for competition expenses. This amazing night of talent features the competitive dancers with DanceWorks Studio in Elliot Lake. Our dancers are excited to showcase their talents in front of their hometown crowd.”

“The March Showcase is the fundraiser we do every March for our competitive team. This showcases dancers from DanceWorks (38 members in the competitive team),” said DanceWorks owner Christine Brunet. “All proceeds will be donated to our group to assist in entry fees for competitions, approximately $30,000 were our fees for this year for the out of town competitions.”

What the local dancers are looking at is a competition in St.Catharines in April, North Bay in early May and Guelph in late May.

DanceWorks has approximately 185 to 200 students, operates the studio in Elliot Lake and recently opened classes in Blind River. The group also plans two more year-end shows.

Routines include tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, hip hop and acrobatics.

Tickets for $20 per person are available at DanceWorks and Wellness Studio and at North Shore Advertising. The event will also have concessions, a 50/50 draw and bar service all cash only. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the show is set to start at 6 p.m.
