St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) would like to advise the public that the recent COVID-19 outbreak on the first floor of our Continuing Care Unit at the Hospital, has officially been declared over by Algoma Public Health on October 23, 2024. SJGHEL would like to remind the public that Universal Masking is still a requirement throughout the hospital. Masking stations are available at each entrance.

SJGHEL would like to thank the public for their continued support with the Universal Masking policy. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring the safety of our staff and patients. We recognize that these preventative measures can be challenging, and we appreciate your commitment in keeping everyone safe.

SJGHEL would like to remind everyone there are several things that can be done to protect yourself and others from COVID-19:

  1. Wear a Mask: Always wear a mask in spaces where Universal Masking is a requirement, to help prevent the spread of the virus.
  2. Practice Good Hand Hygiene: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 15 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  3. Stay Home if Unwell: If you feel unwell or exhibit symptoms such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and avoid contact with others. Seek medical advice if necessary.
