The Counselling Centre of East Algoma is continuing its fundraising efforts for families in need during the holiday season.
The Centre kicked off this year’s fundraiser on Nov. 19 with a sold-out event at Collins Hall that included a sit-down dinner, cocktails, and live entertainment. Entertainment was provided by Tanner Reinhardt and In Waves
Organizer Paula Kendall said the goal this year is to raise $7,500 locally to help 100 local individuals, including families. Community members will also be able to nominate families and individuals this year.
Fundraising is continuing with an online auction of artwork donated by local artisans. The online auction started Nov. 22 and will continue until Dec. 4.
“If anyone would like to nominate an individual or a family, they can contact the Counselling Centre of East Algoma. Spaces are limited,” Kendall said. “If anyone would like to sponsor a family, they can do so at the online auction site or participate in the online auction.”
“Every little bit helps, and with many people in our community finding it difficult with the rising cost on everything a little gift will help to alleviate some of the financial stresses of the holidays,” she added.
The Centre is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year
