Elliot Lake City Council held a special council meeting this afternoon, Friday, Dec. 29 to consider the matter of CAO recruitment.
When the council returned from a one-hour closed session, Acting Mayor Andrew Wannan informed the public that they have appointed former Elliot Lake CAO Rob deBortoli as interim CAO.
Acting Mayor Wannan’s announcement: “So, I'd just like to announce that we have come to an agreement with the person to fill the CAO position. We've had more than a few challenges through this process, but we've finally come, as I said, to an agreement, and I'm very happy to announce on behalf of council, that we have appointed Mr. Rob deBortoli as our interim CAO.”
“We had a very lengthy discussion, and we've come to that agreement, and we think that he'll be a much-needed and a very helpful addition to our team. And we're just very pleased that we can do this before the new year started, 2024.”
“It's going to be a good start to a new year. So, I'd just like to congratulate Mr. deBortoli and congratulate council.”
“And I would finally, really like to thank our acting CAOs, Natalie Bray and Amy Sonnenburg, for all their work that they've done in an absence of a CAO over the course of the year.”
Rob deBortoli is appointed as Elliot Lake’s interim chief administrative officer, effective Jan. 2, 2024.
