The City of Elliot Lake took to social media to let people know the Stanley Cup is coming to town on Friday.

A Kraft Hockeyville Community Celebration will be happening at Collins Hall on Friday, September 27 and Elliot Lakers will be able to capture a moment with the Cup.

It will be there from 3 to 6 p.m. and two Stanley Cup-winning alumni will be joining the festivities. Andrew Ference and Bryan Trottier will be at Collins Hall with the cup.

The city is calling on everyone to come out and show them Elliot Lake’s community spirit and how much the game of hockey means to the community.

The celebration will include a charity barbecue, live bands and entertainment, some face painting and there will be a ball hockey game, Elliot Lake Mayor Andrew Wannan announced at the last council meeting on Monday.

He said there will also be a mascot dance-off and a few other surprises at the community celebration.

"The event is free and open to the public," Wannan said. "Proceeds from the barbecue and Kraft Hockeyville merchandise sales will go to the Centennial Arena fund so come on out and enjoy a great afternoon."

Also at the celebration, the winning photo op cutout contest entry from Kevin Clancy will be unveiled.

"Kevin has won a hundred dollars for his winning artwork this head-in-the-hole photo panel will be unveiled at our Kraft Hockeyville community celebration this Friday," Wannan said. "Take a picture with this unique interactive photo opportunity. We'd like to thank all of the participants in our art contest and once again congratulations to Kevin."
