Cambrian College welcomes new board chair

Philip Potgieter is the new chair of the Cambrian College board of governors. Four new members also joined the board, including Claire Parkinson from Vale in Sudbury, lawyer Sophia Moutsatsos of MLA Law, Cambrian employee Kelly Niemela, and student representative Samuel Emeribe.

The start of the fall term at Cambrian College means new faces in the classrooms and in the boardroom.

Cambrian recently added several new members to its board of governors.

Joining the board are:

  • Claire Parkinson, Director, Ontario Processing Operations, Vale.
  • Sophia Moutsatsos, lawyer and associate at MLA law firm in Sudbury.
  • Kelly Niemela (Cambrian staff representative).
  • Samuel Emeribe (student representative).

The board is also welcoming a new executive for the next year. Assuming the position of board chair is Philip Potgieter, who takes over from Jeff Smith, who becomes past chair. Jennifer Taback will serve as vice-chair. Gianni Grossi becomes chair of the Audit Committee, while Sonia del Missier will chair the Governance Committee.

The following people round out the board: Jason Bubba, Michael DiBrina, Lori Gauthier, Maxim Jean-Louis, Trevor Lalonde, Maureen McLellan and Janneke Nicholls.

“I want to welcome our new board members and look forward to their insights and contributions to our discussions around the board table,” said new chair Philip Potgieter, “I am also very excited to work with the board’s new executive team which bring a wealth of experience to governance, as we work with Cambrian’s senior leadership team to build on the forward

momentum Cambrian has right now. I also want to thank the board members whose terms have expired. You gave excellent service to Cambrian.”
