Students in the Grade 12 music class at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) recently had the chance to benefit from two days of enriching workshops with well-known Franco-Ontarian artist Jean-Guy “Chuck” Labelle. Among other things, they were able to perfect their skills in musical composition and live an authentic experience by recording their composition.

Chuck Labelle is a Franco-Ontarian singer-songwriter and guitarist who performs francophone and new country-rock and has played in venues such as La Nuit sur l’étang. His first album, Chuck, reached gold status after two years and his second album, Un cadeau de Noël, with partner Robert also reached gold. His 1999 single, Le Cowboy, released in both French and English versions, was No. 1 on the European country music charts. Labelle has written and produced over 150 original songs. In 2015, he received the Prix Hommage award from the Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique.

The students thank Chuck Labelle for this great learning session!
