TOWN OF BLIND RIVER

The Town of Blind River is proud to announce it was awarded over $5.1 million in funding through the Ontario Government’s Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund.
The Ontario government is investing $325 million in critical water infrastructure projects to help build up to 107,000 new homes across the province. The funding is being delivered through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), which helps municipalities build, repair, rehabilitate and expand critical drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
“Council has directed administration to focus all efforts on water, wastewater, and critical infrastructure projects. Our dedicated team of public servants submitted over $20M in highly competitive funding applications in 2024,” says Mayor Sally Hagman.
Ontario’s HEWSF has alleviated approximately 67 per cent in local levy pressure, as well, will ensure The Town of Blind River connects to the town’s new water source, Lake Huron, in record time.
Now that this phase of Blind River’s project is funded, Hagman continues, “Our Council is laser-focused on critical infrastructure projects that ensure Blind River is set up for success for its next century of service. We are excited to see more homes and businesses built while sustaining Northern Ontario’s rural charm.”
Council and Administration highlight that ROMA (Rural Ontario Municipal Association) Conference is a valuable setting to meet face-to-face with Ministers and their highly skilled Staff. The conference adds a human element to a busy digital landscape.
The Town of Blind River is eager to install its project location signage, and break ground. The municipality would like to thank Infrastructure Ontario as well as its residents for supporting this milestone initiative.
