APH reports four new cases, potential exposure on Sault Transit routes

Algoma Public Health is reporting four new cases of COVID-19, all from Sault Ste. Marie and area.

The exposure category for all four cases is listed as unknown and all four are currently self-isolating, according to APH.

The health unit is also reporting potential low-risk exposure to the virus on Sault Transit bus routes on the following dates and times:

  • Second Line Route #7 - May 14 from 7-8 a.m. and from 3-4 p.m.
  • Second Line Route #7 - May 15 from 7-8 a.m. and from 3-4 p.m.
  • Great Northern Road Route #2 - May 19 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Second Line Route #7 - May 19 at 11:30 a.m.

People who were on the above busses at the specified times and route listed above are asked to:

  • Self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days from potential exposure.
  • Self-isolate immediately if symptoms develop.
  • Seek testing if symptoms occur.

To date, APH has confirmed 377 COVID-19 cases in the region, 31 of which are active and one of which is currently hospitalized.

Four people have died from COVID-19 in the region and 346 people have recovered.

APH has conducted 140,442 tests, and 85 cases have screened positive for variants of concern.
