Algoma Manor Nursing Home has partnered with St. Joesph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) to bring forward an expansion of non-urgent transportation services to Elliot Lake and along the North Shore. Algoma Manor offers the community opportunities for accessible, non-urgent transportation to help meet the needs of its community members.

“We are proud to partner with Algoma Manor in the expansion of non-urgent transportation and the community shuttle program,” said Leslie Sanders, Chief Nursing Executive at SJGHEL. “This initiative is a crucial step toward ensuring equitable access to healthcare for our rural communities. We commend their innovation and leadership in facilitating a coordinated rural non-urgent transportation system that enhances access to care for patients and residents in Elliot Lake and along the North Shore.”

Algoma Manor offers the use of two accessible vans, and one stretcher van. Transportation is accessible and can be used to connect loved ones, for medical appointments and procedures, and helps community members participate in recreational and social activities.

“Our goal is to help connect our communities together.” states Pamela Ficociello, Algoma Manor’s CEO. “We are working to close the current gaps, and provide the much needed, and necessary, transportation services to our community members.”

To inquire about transportation services community members can contact Patti Mackenzie by calling (705) 842-2840 EXT. 154.
