Ban issued to help maintain physical distancing requirements, says fire chief

CITY OF ELLIOT LAKE

Fire Chief John Thomas announced today that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to maintain physical distancing requirements, there is a fire ban in effect immediately in the City of Elliot Lake.

The fire restriction means that no burning or open flame is allowed. This means:
    •    No burning permits will be issued
    •    No campfires
    •    No burning in outdoor fireplaces
    •    No burning in outdoor fire pits
    •    No incinerator burning
    •    No brush or slash burning

Any person setting an open air fire shall be responsible and liable for costs and could be liable to a fine of $500.
