COVID-19 case reported at Sudbury elementary school

École St-Denis will be closed for two weeks due to A COVID-19 outbreak that was declared at the school by Public Health Sudbury & Districts. 

Students are expected to resume in-class learning on Monday, Feb. 1.

"To support students in their learning, Kindergarten to grade 8 students from École St-Denis will be able to pursue their learning at home in a virtual format until their return to the classroom," said Paul de la Riva, communications director at Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvelon.

"The distribution of technological tools is expected to take place in the coming days based on the needs of families, all the while respecting recommendations from Public Health Sudbury and Districts."

There has been a case of COVID-19 reported at St. David Catholic Elementary School, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board reported Monday.

The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently self-isolating and being monitored by Public Health Sudbury and Districts while the investigation continues, said a letter posted on the board’s website.

Due to the case, the board said the school’s SK/Grade 1 class has been dismissed immediately up until and including Jan. 29.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts is working closely with the school to manage the case, the board said.

They will directly contact all parents of children and all school personnel who have been identified as close contacts. If you are not called by Public Health Sudbury and Districts, you’re asked to follow the general advice in the letter issued by Sudbury Catholic.
